Tom Peterson on EWTN Live TODAY, Ash Wednesday!

First and foremost, we ask you to please join us in praying for the health of our Holy Father and for the upcoming election of our new Supreme Pontiff. We thank God for the amazing teacher and shepherd that Pope Benedict XVI has been, encouraging Catholics Come Home® and every one of us to live out the call to the New Evangelization with energy and boldness.

With the humility and faithfulness of Pope Benedict XVI to inspire us, we are pleased to report that the work of Catholics Come Home® is off to a great start in this new year. Here are some exciting updates we would like to share with you:

Catholics Come Home® combats anti-Catholic hostility on secular radio!
Our recent campaigns sparked lively discussions in the secular media, confirming that we know good things are happening when the Church faces such persecution. Christ promises us in Scripture that we are blessed when we are persecuted for the sake of righteousness (Matt 5:10). I hope you’ll take a few moments to listen to some of my recent radio interviews in Cincinnati and Vancouver Cincinnati Vancouver and pray that God may give us the courage and strength to combat falsehood and love hurting souls with the love of Christ, even in the face of persecution.

Catholics Come Home® will be on EWTN Live on Ash Wednesday!
I will be sitting down with Fr. Mitch Pacwa on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. EST to discuss the recent campaigns and success of Catholics Come Home®, as well as the impact of media on our culture. We will also discuss the upcoming release of my new book, Catholics Come Home: God’s Extraordinary Plan for Your Life (Random House/Image Publishing, NYC), with the foreword by Dr. Scott Hahn! Reruns of the show will air Thursday, Feb. 14 at 9 a.m. EST and Sunday, Feb. 17 at 4 a.m. EST.

We are only days away from the release of Catholics Come Home: God’s Extraordinary Plan for Your Life!
If you haven’t already pre-ordered your copy, you still have time to order online! Next week, Feb. 19, the book will be released and you will start seeing copies in your local Catholic bookstore. Please spread the word by emailing your friends and relatives to encourage them to get a copy of the book, too! It offers inspiration for the faithful and is a great evangelization tool for those friends and relatives on their journey home to the Church.

CATHOLICS COME HOME AIRS SUPER BOWL-STYLE TV AD

CATHOLICS COME HOME
AIRS SUPER BOWL-STYLE TV AD
During College Football Bowl Week

December 27, 2012– Atlanta (Roswell), GA —They say football is like a religion for some die hard fans, that’s why Catholics Come Home® plans to air a new national television commercial during college football bowl week, and ending with the BCS National Championship (Notre Dame vs. Alabama), Jan. 7, 2013.

This one-of-a-kind ad features legendary football Coach Lou Holtz delivering a rallying half-time pep-talk.  In the 30-second commercial, Holtz coaches viewers to “the goal in life – heaven.” He is an ideal person to deliver the message, since Holtz is a devout Catholic and well-known veteran of goals, coaching Notre Dame to the National Title in 1988 during their last undefeated season.

Catholics Come Home® Founder and President Tom Peterson says, “Faith is not a spectator’s sport; it must be lived…it’s interactive!”  This is why his non-profit is trying a new play with the goal of winning loyal fans for Jesus and the Church.

When Peterson was asked how this campaign would be funded in a sluggish economy, he replied: “With God, all things are possible!  After all, the Holy Spirit inspired me to write this script more than a year ago, long before Notre Dame ever played its first game of their undefeated season.  Then by God’s grace, I ran into Coach Holtz last July in the Los Angeles airport, inviting him to star in this evangomercial™. So you can understand why I’m confident that God is watching over us and has a wonderful plan in store!”

Some football experts do not think Notre Dame has a prayer of winning against the SEC powerhouse, Alabama, who won the BCS Championship last year.  While Peterson, who is a loyal Georgia Bulldogs fan, has not divulged who he is cheering for in the BCS title game, he is certain who will win: “All those viewers who follow the wisdom of Coach Holtz—keeping focused on the goal in life: Heaven. They will be the true winners when their final down is played.”

The new Catholics Come Home® evangomercial will air in various markets and programming throughout the United States, reaching an estimated 70 million households between December 27, 2012 and January 8, 2013.

In December 2011 through January 2012, Catholics Come Home® aired their first national television campaign on cable, satellite and major television networks, including CBS, NBC, Univision and others, reaching over 125 million viewers 10 times each, according to Neilsen data.  In the 35 regional dioceses where CatholicsComeHome.org and CatolicosRegresen.org (Spanish) ads have aired, many dioceses who conducted census comparisons reported an average increase in Mass attendance of 10 percent.  Some dioceses have reported results of a nearly 18 percent increase following the Catholics Come Home® airings, along with other benefits like: stronger Catholic identity, increased participation in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, increased tithing and volunteerism, and a stronger desire to go deeper into the faith.  Current regional Catholics Come Home® evangelization campaigns are also airing in Cincinnati, Vancouver (Canada), New Orleans, Colorado Springs, and Venice, Florida, through the New Year.

Perhaps the new Catholics Come Home® football themed ad will help motivate some loyal football fans and their families to set a New Year’s resolution of coming home to weekly Mass and the Catholic Church!

A TRUCE DURING THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS

A TRUCE DURING THE WAR ON CHRISTMAS
SOME NORTH AMERICAN MEDIA FINALLY COLLABORATING WITH CATHOLICS

December 3, 2012– Atlanta (Roswell), GA—While the “war on Christmas” rears its ugly head once again in our secular culture this Advent, Catholics Come Home® continues to combat the attempts by secular groups to censor and silence the voice of Christians in America.  “CatholicsComeHome.org proclaims the good news of Jesus and His Church, by using mainstream media to remind people of the hope that Christianity offers our wounded world,” said Tom Peterson, Founder and President of Catholics Come Home®.

The mainstream media in Cincinnati, site of the latest Catholics Come Home® diocesan partner initiative, appears to be fully embracing this outreach of the New Evangelization.
With over 3,000 evangomercials airing in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Lima covering the tri-state area (Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky) this December and January, it will be hard to miss these inviting messages calling families home to Jesus and His Church.

Catholics Come Home® is simultaneously airing its first international campaign in the Archdiocese of Vancouver, B.C., where 41% of the population has no faith, which is reflected in the following media coverage.

This Advent, some CCH diocesan partners (New Orleans, Colorado Springs, Venice FL) will also air a second media campaign to keep up the momentum of the New Evangelization.

CatholicsComeHome.org evangomercials represent a proud and significant voice of hope for Catholics and all Christians in the public square. They are messages for the New Evangelization, aimed at a culture in dire need of faith in God. “Catholics Come Home® is  bringing light into the darkness through our evangomercials ,” Peterson said. “We will not back away from the public arena.  Now, more than ever, Christians are called to live and share their faith in Jesus Christ.”

A first-time ever national primetime Catholics Come Home® TV ad campaign aired across the United States in English and Spanish (www.CatolicosRegresen.org) during the 2011 Christmas season.  This national campaign reached over 125 million television viewers an average of 9.7 times during the three-week campaign.

Two New U.S. Saints!

As of today, Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha and Blessed Marianne Cope are now Saint Kateri and Saint Marianne!

Read a little about the lives of these holy women of God.

“She reminds us that Jesus came for all people in every age, but especially for the lowly, whom God loves in a special way.” -Archbishop Chaput, speaking about St. Kateri

Saints Kateri and Marianne, pray for us!

Pope Benedict XVI, You, and Catholics Come Home®!

Catholics Come Home

A PERFECT TEAM FOR THE YEAR OF FAITH:  POPE BENEDICT XVI, YOU AND CATHOLICS COME HOME®!

Catholics Come Home® is excited to participate—with you —in the Year of Faith, called for by our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI, which began on October 11!

What is the Year of Faith?
Popes throughout the Church’s history have called upon the faithful to deepen their understanding of a particular aspect of the faith. This coming year, Pope Benedict XVI is calling Catholics to a renewed conversion to the Catholic Faith, asking each one of us to deepen our relationship with Christ this coming year. In addition to the kick-off of the Year of Faith on October 11, the 50th Anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council, the Holy Father is convening a Synod on the New Evangelization, where bishops from various countries will gather to discuss the efforts of the New Evangelization in the Catholic Church throughout the world. Catholics Come Home® is one of those efforts of the New Evangelization!

How Catholics Come Home® is helping to bring the Year of Faith into more lives:
The Year of Faith is all about bringing Catholics to conversion and into deeper relationship with Jesus. In Texas, where Catholics Come Home® commercials aired, a 32-year-old gentleman, who hadn’t received Communion since his First Communion at the age of eight, made an appointment with a priest after seeing a commercial, inspiring him to become part of the Church again. Catholics Come Home® is already helping to achieve the goals of the Year of Faith!

  • It was really wonderful when, after the first day of the program, we were receiving calls…from people who saw the ads on television and said that they used this as a special invitation from the Holy Spirit to return to the Catholic faith.” –Archbishop Carlson, Archdiocese of St. Louis
(where 37,000 souls returned to the practice of their Catholic Faith!)

How YOU can join Catholics Come Home® to make this Year of Faith even more fruitful!
1.  Conduct a one-day door-to-door evangelization mission with other parishioners.  All you have to do is ask neighbors, “How can we pray for the needs of your family?”  You will be amazed at the tears and requests.

2.  Invite Catholics to go deeper in their Catholic Faith and relationship with God—while on the road! Visit our Catholics Come Home® store to get a Catholics Come Home.org car magnet for your car! Or, get CCH Evangelization cards to distribute.

3.  Finally, to help the Holy Father in his efforts to renew conversion in the faithful starting this October, Catholics Come Home® is producing three INSPIRED new commercials for the Year of Faith, but we can’t do it without your help!

Please consider supporting the production and airing of these new commercials, so more lives can be converted back to Christ and the New Evangelization can bear even more fruit! We need to raise $180,000 in the month of October.  Please help!

With the tough economy we need your help more than ever.

POPE BENEDICT XVI and CATHOLICS COME HOME® ARRIVE IN MEXICO

Atlanta (Roswell), GA, March 22, 2012—Pope Benedict XVI travels to Mexico and Cuba, from March 23-28, a trip based on the Pope’s conviction that “this is a precious time to evangelize” in Latin America and the Caribbean. In his homily during the December Mass which honored Our Lady of Guadalupe and celebrated Latin American and Caribbean independence, the Pope called for the New Evangelization to reach these countries and beyond.

Catholics Come Home® and its Spanish language television evangomercialshave also just arrived in Mexico, answering the Holy Father’s call for the New Evangelization. Catholic evangelization messages are appearing on TV screens in Mexico, inviting viewers to “come home” to the Catholic Church and to visit the CatolicosRegresen.org website to learn more.   This month alone, CatolicosRegresen.org has been airing various commercials from their Spanish language portfolio, about one hundred times in Mexico, and more airings are planned for the near future.

The Catholic evangelization commercials direct viewers to the CatolicosRegresen.org website, which features a welcoming message from Eduardo Verástegui, a popular Mexican actor, producer, and star of the movie Bella.  Verástegui shares his personal testimony (English / Spanish) of his journey back to his Catholic faith, after many years outside the Church pursuing a life of  “fame and material success”. The website CatolicosRegresen.org provides catechetical information and a parish finder for those in Mexico, the United States, and elsewhere.

Univision’s popular television program Primer Impacto (March 22, 2012 – 5:30 to 6:00 pm EST) features Verástegui sharing his insights on the upcoming Papal visit to Mexico and his role in helping Catholics Come Home® to spread the messages of CatolicosRegresen.org and the New Evangelization in his native country of Mexico.  Now a resident of Los Angeles, Verástegui shares his conversion story in English on the Catholics Come Home® website as well.

During the recent Christmas season, most Americans witnessed a first in television and Church history: the national, prime-time network debut of empowering bilingual Catholic
evangelization messages in English and Spanish, from Catholics Come Home®.  Spots feature the history, spirituality, and accomplishments of the Catholic Church.

These inspiring evangomercials were broadcast 546 times from December 12, 2011 to January 13, 2012, reaching viewers across the entire United States and airing in every diocese, on popular television networks including NBC, CBS, Univision, and numerous national cable networks.  Many ads aired in prime-time.  Nielsen data indicates that as many as 125 million viewers in the United States were exposed to the ads, an average of 9.7 times each.  Catholics Come Home® has also launched successful evangelization initiatives in 33 US dioceses and archdioceses, from Seattle to Chicago and Boston to Phoenix, helping to increase Mass attendance in many dioceses an average of 10%.  In dioceses with high Hispanic populations (Sacramento, Phoenix, Corpus Christi, etc.), Mass attendance has increased as much as 17.7% following the airing of Catholics Come Home® bilingual campaigns.

Catholics Come Home® continues to work in partnership with various dioceses to air local TV evangelization media campaigns during the seasons of Advent and Lent.  Future plans for the apostolate include developing and airing new commercials in the U.S., Mexico, Canada and internationally.

A prayer petition for 2011

This January, when making your resolutions for 2011, don’t forget to include the most important type of goals for your life: the spiritual ones.

Perhaps you can commit to a deeper prayer life, more time spent in the adoration chapel, more frequent self-sacrifice hands-praying(like fasting), attending daily Mass more often, etc.

On January 1st, Our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI reminded religious leaders around the world of the commitment that must be made to continually seek peace among nations. “I invite all of you to join in heartfelt prayer to Christ the Prince of Peace for an end to violence and conflict wherever they are found,” the Holy Father declared. This year, let us all incorporate prayers for peace into our ‘spiritual plans’ so that we may do our part to spread God’s love and peace in our world today.
