The Priesthood Comes from Jesus!

Vatican City, May 26, 2010 (CNA/EWTN News).- In his last catechesis on the priesthood, Pope Benedict dedicated his Wednesday audience address to the authority that priests receive from Jesus, emphasizing that it must be used in service of people, not as an end in itself. He also asked for prayers to conclude the Year for Priests for all the ordained, including himself. Read more here.

More inspiration from Adrian: From Atheist to Catholic!

Earlier this week we e-mailed our CCH community a message sharing the conversion story of Adrian, a former atheist who became a Catholic after seeing a CatholicsComeHome.org TV commercial.  Thank you for the many wonderful supportive responses we’ve received…we passed them along to Adrian, and he sent us the following gracious response:

“I saw the newsletter with my story, and I can not tell you how much that meant!  I share my story with many fellow Catholics and protestant folks whom I get to speak with face to face. I also roam the net sharing my story, and doing my best to defend the Church. I have been learning and reading more and more everyday into the faith, and with each day its growing stronger!

My little brother who is 17, had lost his way since 14, and 3 weeks ago he approached me to talk about the existence of God and the Catholic Church. We spoke for around an hour, and asked if could come with me and my wife to mass the following Sunday! He was baptized and confirmed Catholic already, and decided to make his first confession this Saturday.

He has really come along way, as I had too. I shared my experience with him, and explained my reasoning. As much as I tried to prove the faith was false previously, My faith instead grew, and grew. Thanks to your website which was Major part of myself returning to the Church! I have referred my brother to your website as well, and will talk with him about it this weekend.

Thank you to the Holy Spirit, and your website and effort I am home!  You have a hand here in Colorado!
-Adrian”

Adrian’s Story: From Atheist to Catholic!

Catholics Come Home

Adrian’s Story: From Atheist to Catholic!

Adrian grew up an atheist and spent his young life arguing against the Christian faith. After years of being “afraid to learn something he couldn’t accept,” Adrian felt like he needed to find that “something” that was missing in his life.

In May 2009, Adrian saw a CatholicsComeHome.org commercial. As he watched the “Epic” commercial, he felt like God was personally calling him home.

“The most powerful line hit me” Adrian told us. “‘We are Catholic. Welcome home.I felt something warm, comforting, and powerful. I felt like God had guided me to this commercial.”

After watching the commercial, Adrian visited CatholicsComeHome.org and started to learn more about the Catholic faith. Sure enough, Adrian found himself uncovering the truth that he had been searching for. “History was proving to me that the Catholic Church was the one true faith.”

On Easter 2010, Adrian, along with his wife and children, received the sacraments and became full members of Christ’s one, holy, Catholic Church in their home state of Colorado.

“Months ago, I was an atheist trying to convert people out of the faith,” Adrian admits. “Today I have returned to the Church, and now I am learning apologetics and defending the faith!”

With God’s grace, and your help, more people like Adrian will experience the peace and happiness that comes in being a member of Christ’s Body—the Church! Will you join us in spreading the Good News, by helping to air more Catholics Come Home ads in your area and around the country? Your donation of $500, $100, $25 or any amount will help to invite friends and relatives home to our universal Catholic family.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support for the mission of CatholicsComeHome.org. May God bless you for your faithfulness to the work of the Holy Spirit and His mission of evangelization!

Sincerely,
Tom Peterson and your CatholicsComeHome.org team

Mary, Mother of the Church

PopeBenedictXVIDid you hear about Our Holy Father’s beautiful words on Pentecost about the role of the Blessed Mother in our celebration of this holy day?

Pope Benedict XVI said that “there is no Church without Pentecost” and “there is no Pentecost without the Virgin Mary.” Read more here.

Let us all continue to call on the intercession of our Blessed Mother as we enter into Ordinary Time again.

A Protestant Clergy Member Enters the Church!

A Kind Message We Received from A former Protestant Clergy Member who entered the Catholic Church this past Easter:

“Congratulations on one the best designed websites I have seen in a long time! I was a Protestant Clergy for 20 years and came into the Church at the Easter Vigil this year. It will be a joy to refer my friends and family to your website as a credible response to their disbelief. Thank you so much!”  -Thomas, MI

Rome Reports TV News Agency: "Catholics Come Home: Commercials boost church attendance"

Read & Watch Rome Reports TV News Agency:  “Catholics Come Home: Commercials boost church attendance”, story below:

May 6, 2010. This commercial highlights the vital part the Catholic Church has played in establishing hospitals, churches, orphanages, and schools and its role in marriage, family life, Scripture and sacraments.

The same ad has also increased mass attendance by an average of 11 percent.

Aired in 12 archdioceses and dioceses around the United States, it addresses often misunderstood aspects of the Catholic faith.

Catholics Come Home, a non profit, broadcasts these messages for the purpose of reaching inactive Catholics, non-Catholics or even current Catholics so they can learn about the Church and live a deeper faith. The ads can also be seen at this website www.catholicscomehome.org.

Only 33 percent of U.S. Catholics attend Mass on a weekly basis.

And while nearly one-in-three Americans were raised in the Catholic faith, today fewer than one-in-four describe themselves as Catholic.

Catholics Come Home hopes to change these numbers.
